Indian Students from MarSU Participated in the Games of the People of the World

Indian medical students from Mari State University (MarSU) made a remarkable mark at the Games of the People of the World, held in Yoshkar Ola, the capital of the Mari-El Republic, from July 24 to July 28. The prestigious sporting event saw there 1,500 athletes from 51 regions of Russia and three countries- India, Japan, and Kazakhstan competing in 15 different sports including aikido, all-style karate, kendo (jodo), muay thai, sambo, mas-wrestling, lapta (Russian), uchkur, kabaddi, cricket, sonar, chess boxing, taekwondo, and belt wrestling.

The Indian students from Mari State University participated and excelled in various sports, particularly cricket and Kabaddi. Their enthusiasm and talent were evident as they swept the podium in the cricket tournament, with the Powerhitters team taking 1st place, the Superstrikers team securing 2nd place, and the Trendsetters team achieving 3rd place.

Their dedication extended beyond cricket. Thanks to the efforts of the team members, Kabaddi was introduced to the event for the first time. MarSU's MBBS students played a pivotal role in organizing the Kabaddi competition, forming teams, and preparing the venue. Their hard work paid off as they secured the top positions: the DANGER BOYS team claimed 1st place, the ALLROUNDER DOCTORS team took 2nd place, and the TEAM WOLF team achieved 3rd place.

Adding to the vibrancy of the games, Indian students actively participated in the opening and closing with captivating demonstration performances. They showcased their performances and sporting talent to a large audience, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry they bring to Russia.

The success of these Indian students transcends individual achievements. It signifies the holistic development opportunities offered by Mari State University to international students.
